November has just started, and that implies that it’s time for the newest set of Android safety patches!
Google posted the Android Security Bulletin for November and started releasing the new update for the Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 3, the Pixel 3 XL.
Users reported that the update is also available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 10, and Galaxy S10 series in particular regions, introducing in the same Security Patch Level.
The new security update features the usual plethora of fixes plus some specific ones designated for Pixel smartphones. The latest update features something assigned for each Pixel from the Pixel 3 and upward.
Unfortunately, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL did not get the new update, as they are scheduled for a final update next month.
These are the build numbers of the new update for each Pixel device:
- Pixel 3 (XL): RP1A.201105.002
- Pixel 3a (XL): RP1A.201105.002
- Pixel 4 (XL): RP1A.201105.002
- Pixel 4a: RP1A.201105.002
- Pixel 4a (5G): RD1A.201105.003.C1
- Pixel 5: RD1A.201105.003.C1
If you haven’t yet received the notification for the OTA (Over-The-Air) update, you can download the OTA files and factory images for the Pixel lineup from many online sources. However, we recommend waiting for the new update to be available via official channels for your smartphone. You wouldn’t want to download a security patch from an unknown and likely untrustworthy source. Not only is it counterintuitive, it doesn’t make sense at all, as the only benefit you get is that you can install the update sooner, but that may cost you a lot in terms of data safety!
