Samsung Gets Dethroned from The World’s Biggest Smartphone Vendor

One old saying claims that nothing lasts forever, and they were so right. Samsung was the world’s biggest vendor when it comes to smartphones. For instance, the South Korean giant sold more than 1.5 billion phones worldwide only in 2019. Another interesting fact is that Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A51 that was recently released, has been the top-selling Android phone in the world during the first quarter of 2020.

But Samsung isn’t unbeatable, regardless of how much its employees want to make us believe otherwise. And after a long time, we have the irrefutable proof.

Huawei takes the cake

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has experienced a tremendous increase in sales for recent years. A new report from analyst company Canalys reveals that Huawei has shipped more phones worldwide over a quarter of a year (the April-June 2020 period) than any other phone manufacturing company. This is a world premiere for the Chinese brand.

An official statement from Huawei says:

Amidst a period of unprecedented global economic slowdown and challenges, we’ve continued to grow and further our leadership position by providing innovative products and experience to consumers.

Ben Stanton, the Canalys senior analyst admits that the ongoing pandemic had a significant role for the new results:

If it wasn’t for COVID-19, it wouldn’t have happened. Huawei has taken full advantage of the Chinese economic recovery to reignite its smartphone business.

The best selling Huawei phones in 2020 are the following (from best to worse): P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro, P30,
P20 Pro, Mate 20 X, P40 Pro, Mate 30 Pro, and P40. The latest smartphone created by the Chinese company is Maimang 9, and it was launched in 27th July. The gadget is a true best, as it features an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC, up to 8GB RAM, and a 64MP main camera as the highlights.

Samsung haters can now open the champagne. The South Korean smartphone manufacturer has been dethroned. Even if it is for a short while, things can continue the same way.
