Mamba Forever Edition
On the other hand, another version of the game is up for selling called the Mamba Forever Edition. This edition of 2K costs $99.99. It sounds like a lot of money, but this version includes a few special MyTeam and MyPlayers bonuses and the Kobe Bryant Digital Collection. Plus, you pre-order this edition, you will get some extras as well, such as the Damian Lillard Digital Collection. The great news about the Mamba Forever Edition is that you will be upgraded to the standard edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

NBA 2K21 costs conclusion
Overall, the idea of playing 2K is that it will require you to spend at least $100 on two console versions. According to the latest notification, the game industry could be settling on a standard price for its ‘triple-A’ games on next-gen consoles, which could be of $70
However, this doesn’t mean the games will not let you carry over most of your in-game progression. 2K will come out with the MyTEAM Cross-Progression feature. This feature allows your MyTEAM points, tokens, cards, and progress to migrate between consoles built by the same company. Plus, the game will also have a Shared VC Wallet that allows the player to keep virtual cash in sync.
However, the decision is undoubtedly irritating to some players. You may or may not know this, but EA received some severe backlash for offering a free upgrade option for Madden NFL 21 that expired on March 31, 2021. You can see why some fans got offended as the decision was taken not long after the PS5 and Xbox Series X is supposed to be released. But EA did wash away their sins by extending the offer until the release of the next-gen consoles.
We can expect from NBA 2K to be the mix of fantastic gameplay with annoying to the point of frustration microtransactions. That’s what the franchise is known for. Hence the free cross-gen upgrade is not happening. This is just another example of how inconsistent some developers and publishers can handle the issue.
Marvel’s Avengers launching on PS4 and Xbox One consoles will receive an upgrade for the upcoming models. Crystal Dynamics confirmed the free cross-gen upgrade. Hence there is no policy to apply to either of the upcoming consoles; every player needs to research and understand what exactly is going on with their favorite franchises.
