Google Chrome Gets the ‘Tab Groups’ Feature

Let’s face it: whether you’re using your PC mostly for gaming or for working remotely on a daily basis, you may still forget about some open tabs. And if those tabs are numerous, handling them can become a real pain. That’s where the good old Chrome browser comes along once again to save the day.

The software engineers from Google bring along a new feature called ‘tab groups’ that will allow users to group open links together very easily. Furthermore, they’ll get the chance to label them with a custom name and color.

Powerful feature for powerful computers

We have to admit that the new tab groups feature is destined mostly for those who have a powerful computer on their side. It’s hard to imagine keeping many tabs open on a low-end PC if you’re not a masochist. Furthermore, groups of tabs are saved when you close and reopen Chrome, which gets you rid of the annoying process of searching a lot through your browser history. But let’s see how exactly can you group several tabs:

  1. When you have a tab open, right-click it and select Add tab to new group.
  2. Choose the name and color for your tab group.
  3. When you open new tabs, right-click them, select Add to group, and select the group you prefer to add them to. The tabs from that group will receive the color you chose.
  4. Ultimately, you are free to move them around within each group as you wish.

The Tab Groups feature is already available in Google Chrome Beta, and it will arrive on the famous browser next week. But with or without the new feature, Chrome remains one of the best browsers out there, as it offers incognito browsing, translation for whole webpages, task manager, a search bar that leads directly to the Google search engine, and many more.
