Facebook recently announced the rolling out of a new update for the Messenger app that continues an old plan of merging messaging platforms. Therefore, those using Instagram are finally able to communicate with users of the Messenger app. But the good news is far from over, as the update also includes new features like custom reactions, vanish mode, support for chat themes, and more.
Facebook announced that cross-app communication with Instagram would be available soon for users across North America. Facebook didn’t mention which markets would receive the update first.
Wait for the update to arrive
Those who use the Messenger app won’t have to perform any complicated tech task for getting their hands on the new update. A notification will appear on each person’s display inviting to update.
You are free to use the Messenger app from Facebook via pretty much any device, as the description from the Play Store suggests:
Be together whenever, with our free* all-in-one communication app, complete with unlimited text, voice, video calling and group video chat features. Easily sync your messages and contacts to your Android phone and connect with anyone, anywhere.
Besides the text messages and video calls, you always have the option of sending a recorded voice message almost instantly:
When text just won’t cut it, just hit record and send. Say, sing, show, or shout it out loud.
In the end, there won’t be any need for having a separate account on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Zuckerberg’s company will fuse all of these services together, although we have no idea when it will happen.
The Facebook social network currently counts over 2.6 billion monthly active users, and there’s no sign that the number will go down anytime soon. It’s obvious that Facebook should do its best to please all of those users.
